The Gospel I have heard this sermon a half dozen times or more, and it is such a blessing for me. Christians everywhere need to hear this message to throw our supposed righteousness and obedience to the law down in the dust before it gets a hold on us. God does not want our goodness, He demands perfection! If we ever get a glimpse of Him we will cry out with Isaiah, "woe is me, I am undone"
Great Sermon! I have been lessening to Henry Mahan for many years He help my wife and I to know God and His way of salvation.
This sermon help me to understand why in our church so many have religion but no fire in them for the things of God as an elder it was and is eating away in my soul. Thanks you Henry for shedding light in the Paradoxes of the Scriptures.
A must hear! I came here searching for Henry Mahan sermons and this is the first time I am hearing Brother Tom Harding. At one point in this sermon he says "The Lord can save EVEN YOU"! Oh how I needed to hear that! It was a word in season! I had gone away from The Lord and was writing bitter things against myself, even wondering whether I had sinned myself beyond grace! Oh how this word encouraged me! Thank you Brother Tom, you will never know in this life how much your word meant to me! May The Lord bless you abundantly and continue to greatly use you! I plan to hear more of your sermons! Love, Mike!
P.S. I also liked that you made it clear that "Christ did not come to make His people 'savable' but to actually save them! The Lord did not cry on the cross saying that He STARTED something . . . but IT IS FINISHED"! A truly sound Monergistic sermon!
Great Sermon! Absolutely a wonderful gospel message!…Puts our face right in the dirt where we belong…Grace is everything…Works are nothing….We are vile earth and miserable sinners….God chooses, we never can choose Him….And this brother says it so well….Everyone should listen to this message.
Great Sermon! A great sermon as usual by Brother Mahan! Oh I love to hear him preach. He gives God ALL the glory and puts man in the dust where he belongs! A great sermon distinguishing grace and works and how the twain can never be mixed!
After you're done with this please make the time to also listen to his sermon titled - "Looking in the wrong direction" - another wonderful and anointed sermon along the same lines.
Great Sermon! A stirring sermon on the necessity of belief on the Lord Jesus Christ and a solemn warning to those that would continue in the folly of their incredulity. Going hand in hand with repentance, it is a very timely exposition of God’s word in these times of easy believism.
A Preacher True To His Calling I never met brother Henry, but I do love him for the way God has used him to bless me. His strength is not innovative interpretations or doctrinal pride but in his simple faithfulness to the text of God's Word. He is a living lesson to young preachers, that they cast aside all thought of what appeals to the flesh, but give all their strength to making God's Word known and understood. May the Lord continue to bless His people with such sanctified men.
A Solid Message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh what a joy to hear such truth!!!! To the believer in CHRIST, this is sweet as honey!!! To be stripped, broken and humbled by the Holy Spirit, and given only one way to look, and that is up, to the Blessed Saviour!!!! CHRIST indeed is the true believers All In All !!!!!! May the LORD bless your ministry, and all those who preach the Gospel of GOD's Sovereign Grace!!!!!!
How true a Sermon! Praise God for giving Br Henry Mahan this message and boldness to preach it. Was blessed and alerted to the condition of 'Christians" and the warning to examine as Paul said in 2Cor13:5.
Praise God! The funeral service of probably God's most influential preacher in my life, preached by the second most. I long to be with Christ in Heaven after messages as these, and to meet Rolfe Barnard too.
Amazing This is a wonderful sermon, much needed in times of feeling spiritually dead. It made me tear up. Listen to this and let the words help you see the Savior again, if you feel like you've gone far from Him.
Rich Message !!! Vital message on the ONLY mission a preacher should have, if he is truly in Christ!!! Many people caught up in the weak, compromising,man-centered preaching of today will be offended by this message, but to those who, by God's mercy and grace, receive it, will be filled with the joy of a sovereign LORD and Savior!!!! May God continue to bless Brother Harding, and all of God's ministers, who stand strong and faithful in CHRIST, who reigns now,and forever!!!!!
Great Sermon! Listening to Pastor Mahan declare the Gospel draws one's heart to the importance and value of both the Person and the accomplished work of Christ. Thank you for your honesty and simplicity in preaching "Christ and Him crucified."
