Christ in the home. I liked the idea from Mark 2:1 that people must see and know that Christ is in our home. Our home must be a place of communion with God, of service and where the power of God is working.
Salvation is of the Lord. Great proclamation of God's initiative and sovereignty in salvation. Salvation is the work of God, not a synergism, man helping God to save him. Our great comfort and hope is in this powerful doctrine of the Bible.
Wonderful. What a powerful message! The rich young ruler pretended he was interested in eternal life, but his heart was bound to this earth and he saw not his sins. Excellent exegesis, arguments and application.
Powerful. The people of God have to be sorrowful for the state of the church in our times. We must acknowledge the state of the church. At the same time, we must rejoice in what we have in Christ and to trust in God, who is sovereign and who will revive His church.
Great Sermon! Dear Pastor Alan, Thank you for a wonderful sermon! As I listened to you I saw something new. Praise God! As a medical doctor and pastor myself, I have to deal with the desire of people to 'make me king' and to 'worship me'. This desire in people has to be dealt with; if not, it will bring the leader into a place (of sin) where he is 'forced' to share some of the glory with God.
I see here that Jesus has two strategies:
With the (political) crowds Jesus withdrew Himself from them.
With the disciples, especially Peter, He had to confront that tendency in them. He chose the place of confrontation on top of the sea, their familiar 'ground'. He commanded 'good cher'. Peter responded with 'bad' cher, fleshly confidence that he can do what Jesus does, with the rest men as audience. When he sank in the water and Jesus saved him, it was clear who is the Lord (and who is not). Peter and all they had to learn that there is only One Lord,Jesus Crist! Worship cannot be contaminated by man, even at his best moments. Thank you for helping me see this new (for me) revelation.
God bless you, your family and ministry,
In Christ alone, Lia Leigh.
Position and provision. We must realize what our position and our provisions are in Christ. We must walk according to our wealth in Christ. We were not saved to live like paupers, but abundantly in Christ.
Every believer should here this message. The Fruit of the Spirit is explained so clearly in this message. Love being the head of all the other Fruits. Please take the time to hear this, your love for Christ and others will be greatly blessed by this message.
The amazing response. The text of this sermon is not Luke 7, but Luke 9:18-22. The people in Israel didn't know who Jesus was and their attitude toward Him was wrong. This text gives a response to the question and shows who Jesus really is.
Great Sermon! So relevant for today, but seldom preached upon! Do we believe that we live in and need "saved from this wicked and perverse generation", or not? Clearly few are "saved from" out of it, since they traffic in it's *lifestyle*! Loose living is given room under the pretenses of "judge not", charges of "legalism", talks about "remaining sin", and an ungodly "tolerance", and "Christian liberty" is used in order to traffic in modern vices, addiction to immoral media, imitation of the world, and glorification of ungodly Hollywood--American Idolatry! There is a "tolerance" and "liberty" that "turns the grace of God (which all seem to profess) into lasciviousness"--which is lawlessness, and "sin IS transgression of the law". This sermons challenges that PRACTICAL HERESY of Modern Christianity.
There IS a Holy War, but Captain Resistance has been slain easily, and Conscience compromised, and Satan's regiment has entered by both the stealth of Trojan Horses, and now in the outright assault, especially making use (again, like in the 1960s) of modern Youth, so that there is "no fear of God before their eyes". "Children will be disobedient to parents" is now entirely fulfilled, and there is only a "form of godliness, while denying the power thereof".
Biblical purity. I agree and I admire the FPC stress on individual purity and ecclesiastical purity. This is the biblical teaching. I am thanking God for what He has done and is doing in and through FPC.
