"Great Sermon!"
Kisha from CT
Excellent sermon. Christians need to speak up. It's tragic how the Name of Christ is being heretically used for evil causes....

No GG you will not find ANY persecutions made by true fundamental Baptists any time in history. And note that I said "true Fundamental Baptists". Every group who uses the name Baptist are not.

And no, I'm not a protestant or as you like to say "prot", I'm a Baptist. Theres a BIG difference. You "lics" need to get it right.

Pastor Chuck: Amen and Amen!!

Chuck,
And Happy Independence day to you! I appreciate your quick response, but please don't feel that you need to answer my next question today, you've been busy, so enjoy the day. I'm wondering, what does a Christian say to a Jehovah's Witness who claims that the Bible does not explicitly teach the doctrine of the Trinity and that their New World Translation is the correct interpretation of the Bible? Thanks!

Happy Independence Day! We celebrated free speech liberty this morning by going to a Jehovah's Witness conference in Portland to preach the Gospel.

No, the Bible doesn't contain the words "Sola Scriptura", but it does contain the principle or doctrine. The Bible doesn't contain the word "Trinity", yet all Christians hold to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as one and the same God, but three in person. For the sake of brevity we call it the doctrine of the Trinity.

James 1:21-25
receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

1 Peter 1:23-2:3
having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because

"All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
25 But the word of the LORD endures forever."
Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

2:1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Chuck,
Thank you for the explanation. Does the Bible contain the term "Sola Scriptura"? Thanks again.

It means...

2 Tim 3:15-17
the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
NKJV

Or for an uninspired source, Wikipedia defines it...

Sola scriptura (Latin ablative, "by scripture alone") is the assertion that the Bible as God's written word is self-authenticating, clear (perspicuous) to the rational reader, its own interpreter ("Scripture interprets Scripture"), and sufficient of itself to be the final authority of Christian doctrine.

Sola scriptura was a foundational doctrinal principle of the Protestant Reformation held by the reformer Martin Luther and is a formal principle of Protestants today (see Five solas). It may be contrasted with Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Oriental Orthodox teaching in which doctrine is taught by the teaching authority of the church, drawing on the "Deposit of Faith" and based on what they consider to be Sacred Tradition, of which the Bible is a subset.

Preacherjond: So far I haven't killed a soul and don't plan to. How bout you, spoiling for a fight are we? If you want to be a Prot, you have my blessing...knock yourself out. Please allow me and other Catholics to exercise our American right to practice our religion in peace...unless of course, you're tired of peace?

"You mean like when your institution burned and tortured all the 'heretics' for preaching the true gospel to them?"

MyRsp: No...more like when Prot England let Catholic Ireland starve, stole their land, and kept them in proverty...or kinda like when England persecuted Catholics for over 200 years with death and prison...or maybe like American 'Know-Nothings' (sounds right up your alley Preacher!) who burned Catholic Churches, convents and beat up Catholic clergy...then there was the Klan of the 1920's that hated Catholics. Are any of the folks your kin?

Hello All,

Good to see some interaction over the things that matter most. Why take the Gospel to Mass? It's not ugly, it's LOVE. Mass is where Christ is being blasphemed and where Roman Catholic people are being lead astray from the work that Jesus Christ pronounced as "FINISHED" (John 19:30). Love of Christ and love of lost sinners bound up under Roman Catholic delusions of sacramental righteousness compel us to take the Gospel to Mass. Let me be clear that we did not interrupt the blasphemous service in which Christ is said to be re-crucified. Instead we talked with people and priest before and after the service. I would welcome Catholics to attend service at our church and happily engage them in a Biblical discussion of Christ's final sacrifice as the final high priest. Thanks for writing and may God be glorified as you look to His Son's completed sacrifice and cry out to Him for salvation by grace alone through faith alone.

Sola Scriptura,

Chuck

". . .this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and offered in an unbloody manner... this sacrifice is truly propitiatory" (Doctrina de ss. Missae sacrificio, c. 2, quoted in Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1367)

Woe, if the bread is literally turned into flesh, and the wine is literally turned into blood, how can the Mass be an 'unbloody manner'? Is this not a contradiction?

BTW GG, I don't believe any Protestants on this site would harrass you; it is you taking their defense of their doctrines that you attack as harrassment. If you did not come here with your Jesuit tactics, I doubt that any truly Protestant Christians would be harrassing you or the RCC. "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. . ."

GG wrote, "Don't start something that could turn very ugly. "

You mean like when your institution burned and tortured all the "heretics" for preaching the true gospel to them?

The next inquisition is just waiting on everything to line up prophetically, and it will make the first look like a minor street fight. You can read about it in the book of Revelation-- but you won't be able to understand according 1 Cor. 2:13-14. I would say to go and ask your priest, but he won't be able to either according to the same verse.

So GG are you going to step up and be part of the army and do God a service by killing the heretics, just like your comrades did?

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is a very timely sermon. Our legistalure is completely out of control and are colluding with the Oregon county clerks and the Oregon Sumpreme Court to subvert the will of the majority in Oregon. This sermon reinforces the urgent need for all Americans to rise up against this evil and remove these evil politicians from office.

Where in the Bible can I find support for the Reformation and it's principles - for example, the authority of "Scripture Alone" and salvation by "Faith Alone"?

This is America, we have the right to worship God as we each see fit. Please grant Catholics the dignity of conducting a peaceful service without harassment....just as you would wish for your own services. Remember...."Do unto others"? Don't start something that could turn very ugly.

How do you know that the Gospel you took to the Roman Catholics attending Mass is the Word of God?

Thanks for sharing this. It is disappointing and shocking that so many well known "leaders" would sign such a document. By doing so they've basically agreed with the culture in saying "There are many Paths that lead to heaven". The Scripture is clear that this is not the case. Yes, we should love our neighbors but to unite fully with them, if I'm understanding the document correctly, is in essence to say, that God and His Word aren't correct when Jesus said that ... "He is the way, the truth, the life, no one comes to the Father except through me". I'll be praying for them because many of them are doing good things for the Lord but I must say that this isn't one of them.

Bad news, dude, you are riding a hypocrite high.

You quoted multiple scriptures out of context in this article, not only that you poorly interpreted a variety of quotes - particularly those from Rick Warren.

I started reading because I saw in the introduction you pointed out several obvious heretics, with some guys I have respect for (Warren and McManus) and I wanted to hear your case. It was weak. I suggest you go to seminary, learn some Biblical interpretation and give it a whirl. Also, study a little philosophy and rhetoric so that you can actually understand that when someone says there is "truth in other religions" that means that there are some things true, certainly not the entire picture.

Please understand that this is not a personal attack or insult any greater than those you posted in your article.

Mr. O'neal, I live nearby perhaps we could go out to lunch and discuss your doctrine and work through these issues. It is my heart that you are not angry over this message, but that you humbly repent from your attacks and grow in conviction of truth, not adiophora.

May God's truth free your heart,
Ryan Green

“ Won't Play ”
1/27 - 11 am Hi Chuck! You're probably right in the middle of your sermon right now. Sure wish I could be there - especially since I can't get your messages on Sermon-Audio to play on my computer. I click, and double click, the PLAY and Play Audio buttons, and wait a long time, and nothing happens. Any idea what I'm doing (or not doing) wrong? Please e-mail me or call 319-795-5050 when you get a chance. God Bless You, Luv, Karen
