Fantastic Perspective! Pastor Baucham has highlighted excellent points for the listener regarding adoption. It is so much bigger than wanting a child for selfish reasons. It is about the Gospel of Jesus Christ! A must listen sermon. It puts adoption into the perspective God meant it to have--a reflection of the great love of God. Cuts straight to the heart of the matter.
Innumerable I think the 144,000 sealed, is a literal figure of the number of Jews sealed. It seems to align with the prophecies of the spiritual revival of the Jews: Zec 12:10, Eze 39:17-29. It does not seem like the spiritual revival has taken place, so I think the 144,000 is a literal number that pertains to the future revival of the Jews. Also it doesn't make sense for John to give a literal, spelled out number, and for it to represent a symbolic number. John would've just went strait into saying "an innumerable multitude", and he wouldn't have spelled out the number sealed from each tribe. For example, someone says, "My boat has 7000 horsepower. The power is innumerable. It doesn't really have 7000 horsepower, the 7000 is symbolic of the perfection of the numbers of seas times 1000".----- If the 144,000 is a literal number, then the great multitude is a literal number as well. In Joel 2:32 it says whoever calls in the name of Jehovah is saved. If 1/3 of the world population makes it through the tribulation(Zec 13:8), then that's at least 2 billion people, which sounds alot more like an innumerable multitude.
Great Sermon! You and pastor Voddie are truly great pointers. Pointer is a term I came up with that means, one who properly points to Christ. Amen! I am a Wretch, saved by faith @ grace of our LORD @ Saviour, Jesus Christ. I live @ work in the wilderness(the hwys@bywys) of this country and I survive on great pointers such as you both. I feed on podcasts of the word, maybe 6hrs or more a day and its never enough. Can I get a direct link to your preaching @ teaching on the i-pod i-tunes thing? Thank You for your faithfullness to the word. The peace of our Lord be with you. Amen. James T
GOD HAS SPOKEN LOUD AND CLEAR !! God has said that marriage is binding until DEATH. It is a violation of HIS WORD to divorce and remarry. Shame on Pastor Baucham and all others who are giving the stamp of approval to those who are remaining remarried, and in so doing, denying that their first marriage is still binding in God's sight. Romans 7:2,3--For the woman which hath an husband IS BOUND BY THE LAW TO HER HUSBAND AS LONG AS HE LIVETH; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then, IF, WHILE HER HUSBAND LIVETH, SHE BE MARRIED TO ANOTHER MAN, SHE SHALL BE CALLED AN ADULTERESS: but if her husband be dead, she is free from the law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. God has spoken and HE IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY on the matter, not man! And, He has further said--"...adulterers...shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Cor. 6:9-10 Take the matter of divorce/remarriage very serious because GOD DOES!!
Great Sermon! If you divorce and remarry knowing that God hates it (and please don't wiggle out by saying that you were not a believer, that you were ignorant about the things that God hates, ...), then you sinned against your spouse and God. Knowing this, what will you now do?
Great Sermon! As important as church membership is it is not required for salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven. The only requirement there is for salvation and gaining entrance into Heaven is for one to embrace Jesus Christ as ones Savior and Lord.
Forgiveness I'm not saying that I have been made perfect like Christ. What I am saying is that true forgiveness requires you to forget their transgression. True forgiveness requires you to clear away the scar tissue that the person transgressing created on your heart/mind/soul, by forgiving and forgetting. For example, if a wife is cheated on by her husband, and she never forgets what he did to her, she is not in a state of forgiveness. She still has the scar tissue on her heart, because she hasn't forgotten her husband's sin. She hasn't forgotten because she hasn't forgiven, and she hasnt forgiven because she hasn't forgotten. So the two are mutually inclusive; you cannot do one without the other.--- Am I saying that we can forgive and forget through our own inherit goodness that naturally dwells in us? I am not. God is love, and we need God to forgive each other.--- If you are truly forgiving your enemy, you are not keeping a physical record of wrongs, and you are not keeping a mental record of wrongs, because the physical and mental recordkeeping are the same things. When Jesus died for our sins, God fully forgot our sins, because Jesus atoned for them. God will not remember our sins when Jesus has already died for them.
