Although Dr. Havner has gone on to be with our Lord, his messages are very "fresh" and much needed for today. Caldwell 1 comment “ A Historic Message! ” This is one of the first messages on the sovereignty of God that I ever heard. It was preached in one of the early "Sovereign Grace" Bible Conferences in Ashland, Ky. I obtained this message on a 7-inch reel tape from the late Brother I. C. Herendeen of BIBLE TRUTH DEPOT, Swengel PA. in the 1950s. I.C.H. was publisher and editor of ARTHUR PINK'S WORKS during the early and middle 20th Century when Pink and the experimental doctrines of Calvinism were virtually unknown! Brother Herendeen greatly encouraged Rolfe Barnard, Henry Mahan, B. B. Caldwell, E. W. Johnson, A. D. Muse, Ferrell Griswold, George Fletcher and others in the initiating of Conferences and meetings emphasizing the Calvinistic truth. While the audio quality is not as good as we would like, you can hear this historic message without any great difficulty. LISTEN & RECOMMEND this Mp3 download to all your friends who need this great truth and who will appreciate hearing a pioneer Baptist Calvinist! Please listen to this wonderful sermon and see if you are building your life and desires on the cross of Calvary. This sermon reminded me of the lines from the hymn 'when I survey the wondrous cross, on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride'. For the eternal blessing of your soul please take a few minutes to listen to this Holy Spirit filled sermon, which although nearly 40 years old is still as fresh and vibrant today, as the day it was preached. It is a very convicting sermon in that it states the duty and burden of a Christian spreading the Gospel. I thank God for His Sovereign Mercy. I thank God that He gave life to this dead sinner. In this day of humanism, seeker friendly churches, apostate protestantism and a constant bombardment of "God loves you just the way you are" this message is a breath of the fresh air of God's truth. That every mouth may be stopped and that the flesh be killed was the mission of Rolfe Barnard. I wept uncontrollably. I would most highly recommend this, and every other sermon by brother Barnard. Oh, that we had more like him today! So much truth is taught; we cannot discuss the deep truths of the Word of God with hardly anyone. Thank God that He has revealed these precious truths to me. God help me that I will not cast the pearls before the swine. Thank God for introducing this precious man to me through Brother Henry Mahan.
