Sad state of unbelief today in church Reading a few of these comments reflects a sad state of unbelief in Jesus who is the same yesterday, today and forever. Of course He heals today. There are documented evidences of His healings everywhere, as many cry out to Him when there is no help anywhere else. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells within every born again heart. Why is it such a problem for some not only to believe but to know the Lord can heal, deliver and set the captives free . We serve the Creator of the universe! I am concerned for those who have thrown the baby out with the bath water because of a few who misrepresent the Lord today for their own gain.
Continue to Pray for the gifts Totally understand where you’re coming from, charismatics are absolutely nuts. But from a scriptural stand point cessationist don’t have much ground to stand on. Even the Westminster Confession of Faith says there are no proof texts for cessation but uses reasonable deduction as the basis of there conclusion. What are we to do? Keep seeking the gifts and power of God in faith or abandon the bible. But please don't try to make a case from scripture for cessationism. And please don't point to all the abuses in
Charismatic churches as valid reasons for cessationism, I think everyone here agrees that
what goes on in those churches is sensational. If the bible is our standard we must believe what it says even those embarrassing passages about gifts.
Great Sermon! Trevor,
You took a topic that seemed nearly impossible for the laymen to scripturally sort out and simplified it so that even the youngest in Christ can understand it.
I thank God for gifted teachers like you. In Christ!!
The Debate Hi pastor Trevor,
I listened to that Debate. The non-Charismatic was the wrong one to debate the issue.
It should have been you.
I agree 100 % with your 'Message to Charismatics'
We left a Charismatic church a few months ago.. While we did not worship with the "GIFTS" as the rest did, we began to pray and ask God to give us wisdom and discernment about this.
I am so grateful He led us out of there.
Please contact that Charismatic Man and have a debate with him.
Anyway... Thank you for your program on here.
Great Sermon! Here's a oxymoron: charismatic funeral. Think about it...why should they have a funeral when they could just raise them frm the dead? As a 24 yr old Reformed Baptist who by grace was brought out from among them, I am eternally indebted to Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and the light of His Gospel. God WILL save His people out of this madness, it's just a matter of time. His sheep hear His voice, and they will not follow another.
ITS NO DEBATE! Its simple!..(yet silly)...If Dr.Brown believes there are men raising the dead an healing the sick from Aids or Cancer and having the same gifts of healing as the apostles an their associates.....PROVE IT!!....Just PROVE IT!!.......And the argument is simply over!
Great Sermon! Sorry, Carl, you are riggt. They have not read the John 21:25, which says: And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
The Bible definitely speaks for itself.
Great Sermon! Pam, you totally misunderstood my comment. I agree with you 100%. My point was that there is no specific recorded incident in the Gospels that Jesus healed an amputee (ergo "argument from silence") although passages such as Matthew 4:24, 8:16 and Luke 4:40 says that he healed all that were brought to Him at those events. But Cessationists today say that the spiritual gift of healing has ceased because they cannot find a credible recorded proof of an amputee made whole today. By that standard they would have also called Jesus a fraud.
Try God for yourself Carl, where the Bible says ALL were healed, that means ALL WERE HEALED. Where the Bible says MANY were healed, ALL were NOT HEALED. There also a place where He did NO MIRACLES there because of UNBELIEF.
You have to try God for yourself and see if He is real.
