Born-again Christians While I really hope those coptic Christians are true born again believers, but I doubt it. A search on google shows this about them: "They profess to be genuine followers of Jesus Christ and a part of His worldwide Church. But, as with Catholicism, they tend to emphasize meritorious works in salvation along with liturgical ritual rather than salvation through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ."
Feature - 2nd June I would like to share the 'Feature' reading of 2nd June which ref Ecc 12:13. The pursuit of happiness is a very secular concept. Happiness to non-God fearing pp generally includes indulgence in very carnal activities. They hop from one activity to another because each activity satisfies the soul for only so short a time. I believe the Bible does not talk about happiness. It does say 'if u do this, happy are ye...' but the word happy in that context points to the good of doing something rather than a feeling. As Christ-fearing pp, we should not seek earthly bliss. Rather we should be focussed only on love, joy, peace and the fear of the Lord n its consequential attributes.
Great Study The silence of Western Christianity on this subject is deafening, I hope Trevor continues to bring this topic up here more often. I like the way Trevor was able to weave Catholic Doctrine about divorce into this study of persection and the current weakness of the American Church(40 min mark)...insightful
very interesting topic AJ Miller has occasionally been on the news in Australia e.g. Recent Sydney Morning Herald article (May 1 2013) "The Messiah Complex"
On youtube search for "Sunday Night - Inside Australia's Chilling New Cult (AJ Miller)". Youtube also provides Miller's long seminars/talks under names "Divine Truth" and "God's way of Love". Warning: weird mixture of occult/reincarnation/pop psychology with just enough Christian terminology to fool biblically illiterate/ emotionally vunerable people out there.
Great Sermon! Maybe its all spiritual. If we are all born spiritually dead and with a bent towards evil, its possible that this evil just manifests itself differently within different people. If this is the case, we will never figure it out since we can't scientifically study spiritual things. Like you said at the end, no matter why or how any of our evil desires manifest, we are still called to repent.
Great Sermon! "Sunday morning in America is the greatest hour of idolatry in the whole week. Why? Because most people who are even worshiping God, are worshiping a God they don't know. They're worshiping a god that looks more like Santa Claus than the God of Scripture. They're worshiping a god that is a figment of their own imagination. They created a god in their own likeness and they worship the god they've made." ~ Paul Washer.
Posted this on Facebook once, boy did it get me into trouble with the Luke warms
Thank you for your honest stance I love listening to your news on focus programs and your sermons. I am thankful for your stand for truth and honest academic and biblical pursuit
Great Sermon! Pat is getting a little old, so he only seems to comment on part of the reality. Some people are to live in various places, and though there may be climate reasons for severe weather, we should just be silent and in awe, as Trevor says, and let God be God and nature be nature, and try to help people when they need it.
Interesting! I wouldve like to have heard him challenge those who claim to be christians, but yet admit to a lifestyle of homosexual practice....An base the challenge off of what scripture says in 1 Corinthians 6 says...about sins we ONCE practiced but nolonger by Gods grace!!......Those who love their sin hate anything that strikes their conscious, and they usually want that which is attacking removed from their environment.....which GOD AN HIS WORD...an that is the direction we are headed in in this country an around the world!!
Great Sermon! In the church I currently attend, when someone requests, we anoint them with oil and pray over them. Do you believe that scripture leaves room for this? We don't believe that our pastor or any elders have apostolic healing powers, and we don't believe in guaranteed healing, we do it in faith that God can heal if it is his will. Are we in error biblically for doing this?
Thank you for asking the difficult questions On this topic, Trevor Hammock has consistently proven to the be the most thorough and thought-provoking on this site. Every time he does a news in focus program on the subject, there is something worthwhile to learn from it.
Thank you for wrestling with an emotionally difficult issue and showing real compassion towards the LGBT community.
Many have a knee-jerk reaction to some of the questions Pastor Hammock asks. But our faith is only made stronger by facing these challenges, not weaker. We may think we already understand everything God has to say on this subject, but to think such a thing is pride & presumption. Only God has all the answers. Read again the verses pertaining to this topic. See what the Bible says... and what it doesn't say. And trust that God will reveal a greater work in you.
Wrong based on misassumptions I didnt hear a word about repentance of the sinner...!?Also, cheating spouse can contract deadly disease and thus should not be eligible for additional intimacy due to this possible threat. Thirdly, forgiveness doesn't mean that one should be as a doormat or set oneself up for revictimization-emotional or otherwise. Bible DOES mention divorce permissible for infidelity. Also, biblical penalty for adultery was the same as for homosexuality if I remember correctly. Repentance of sinner and proven change is the NT prescription for forgiveness by God. I also recall the verse 'Be not unequally yoked'. Too many unanswered questions and too many assumptions in this situation.
Great Topic Wow! He just made up a sorry excuse for why Men cheat on their wives. Yes it is alot of temptation out there, but a Man with morals would not even want to risk destroying the blessing of what God has given him.
wrong Mr. Robertson should not have basically said expect adultery. Job made a covenant with his eyes noy to look upon a woman. In our porno filled society, a man by God's grace can resist all sexual immorality. A wife should not expect or excuse it. He needs to repent first to God, then his wife. Only by God's grace can she forgive and he has to stop! If he does not, then he was not sincere.
