Great Sermon! Steve, when I first heard this from Paul Washer I wondered about that also. I started with a book called "The Attributes of God" by Arthur Pink. I don't want you to think that you can only find out about God from good books...Scripture will teach you that, but good books like this can help in learning that. I took Paul up on his challenge, and my heart was awakened by the truth about God. God bless.
Every Church NEEDS To Hear This Of the many excellent messages on SermonAudio there may be at this present time no other message that so greatly needs to be heard and acted upon as this one. And if that takes congregations and pastors humbling themselves before God, seeking His face, and so listening to His Word until they get it and REPENT so be it. And if they need further word to help them grow some godly conviction in their faith this message along with ones like 10 Shekels and a Shirt and Shocking Youth Messages are ones the Holy Spirit can in us as a beginning to the glory of God in our lives. Pastor Baucham, I thank God for this message.
Earth-shatteringly good Dr. Baucham once again points the Word of Truth at another "sacred cow" in our so-called Christian world. And the truth is not pretty. It's RIGHT, but it's not pretty. This message needs to be heard by every pastor and "youth leader" in the country. Praise God for raising up such a voice of honest analysis and perception.
I'd been peripherally involved in the youth group at one of the churches I attend, and I can say this: "It is even worse than he portrays it." These graduating seniors have no concept of the gospel. This is perpetuated by the youth leader and tolerated by the pastor. Adults who should know better!
Pray for our churches, that they may be a light to the lost - of all ages. Sadly, the majority of the adults in the pews are not much better off.
Great Sermon! Thank you Mr. Washer fro this message. I have a question though. You say that the way we grow in love toward God is to grow in our understanding of the attributes of God. How is this done? Thank you brother.
Thanks for the big 'ol cup of eye opener! It's amazing what you can learn when you actually go back to the foundation of God's word. The world is so ingrained into the church that most of the time we don't even recognize it.
The Most Important Message On This Site! This was the greatest message I have ever heard! I was blessed to have the privilege of hearing it live in Cincinnati and it's great that anyone can listen to it through sermon audio!
What Scripture Can Do in your Home! Wow, what a fantastic sermon! If you want to hear about (and I have seen in person) how a love for Scripture wonderfully affects the home which in turn affects the church, the government and the culture, then you'll want to give this message a listen! And I suspect, that listening to this entire series by various speakers on the Sufficiency of Scripture will be time wisely and well spent.
To Cy I agree that we often forsake the Lord for the rituals of Sunday mornings. I will be praying that the Lord surrounds you with a group of believers so that you can function as a Body. I too have closed myself in my room on a Sunday morning to seek God and what the true Church looks like. Do not forsake corporate fellowship. Christians were created to function together. Serving one another and bearing each others bearing one anothers' burdens. Pray that the Lord will bring you to a Biblical church(or group of true believers) so that you may serve the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Great reminders about different forms of idolatry! I was particularly convicted by the contrast between those things which God has not commanded us to do and those which he has commanded us to do, especially in reference to the neglect of gathering with the saints. We DO love other things greatly and the important things lightly! I pray that God will use this message to bless many.
Great Sermon! Right on! A thousand times right on.
I have stopped going to church altogether cuz i am SO sick of it. Wake up Christians and come OUT of it!
It is written, Where two or three are gathered in my name THERE I am, in the midst of THEM. (emphasis mine). That means you can meet in your closet or garage or on your porch with one or two other people and hold church there.
