Challenged to Dig Deeper! A good message to encourage — to challenge — us to dig deeper into God’s Word in order to get closer to Jesus and a more serious walk.
what a Word of God! timely for the state of "Christianity" these last days Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house? And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers. 2 Chronicles. 7: 21-22.
Those that forsake their father’s God, shall be rejected by the Lord God of their fathers. This was the sin that ruined Judah in the time of Jeremiah; possessed with a false confidence that the God of their fathers was still their God, they refused to consider their ways, and ask for the old paths. ‘The Lord hath rejected thy confidences,’ was the message sent unto them, ‘This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth’ (7: 28). Whenever God visits a nation in mercy the whole of that nation’s posterity is involved in greater responsibility; thereafter the relation of the people to their fathers’ God becomes a matter of solemn importance, to forsake Him will prove their ruin.
The Need for Repentance in Response to Disasters We’ve had recent major flood disasters in the state of Vermont. Where is the cry for repentance from the pulpits, clergy, laymen, and believers in general? Why isn’t God part of this equation? This message by Dr Johnston should serve as a wake-up call, for calling a solemn assembly!
Excellent but Frightening Sober Message! This is an extremely important sermon! Many things Dr Johnston preached on were spot on, convicting, and more than relevant to individual believers and churches today. May all take this serious, myself included!
A Necessary and Troubling Message …. Dr Johnston conveys the truth that God must prune us, break us, and take away our self-will and self-reliance in order to use us. Troubling in that as we want to be used of God for His Kingdom, we often would like to by-pass that pruning process. I know I would. But it is necessary to bring true glory to Him and to humble us. He references Mordecai Ham’s autobiography, which is definitely worth reading (as is Dr Johnston’s own work on the life and ministry of Rolfe Barnard).
Another Great Message! More fire from Dr. Johnston! If you want to grow closer in your walk with Christ, make these messages a regular part of your spiritual nourishment!
Great Sermon! This was convicting and inspiring — we need more strong fiery preaching like this! No — we as a nation AND the church are truly on life support. Thus we NEED preaching like this, and then the repentance that should naturally follow.
Soul-inspiring Fire!!!! I literally listened to this message 5+ times, and will return to it again! Makes me yearn for Edwards, Whitefield, Nettleton, Finney, and Barnard! Preachers, take note!!
Spot-On Truth!! This is the kind of preaching America needs! Not light-hearted “teaching” as in most churches. I appreciate the comparison of our recent national disasters to judgments out of the Old Testament. Who is listening? It’s pretty much business as usual. No sense of urgency! We need the brokenness, anguish, and pleading again! We need a hunger for righteousness, and a thirst for Jesus Christ!
Great Sermon! Sir; If you have time to listen, please listen to some of my sermons. I preach the great need to return to the Reformation Principles, on SermonAudio.com. Holy War, is my site. I believe Christendom has radically left the Centrality of The Reformation and we can never expect any Revival as long as we follow after such unScriptural errors. So many today have twisted, that which our Godly Forefathers automatically understood. I have listed 29 ways, we have left the Reformation Principles. I would welcome your feedback.
Sincerely
