Solomon’s Porch is a community of believers associated with Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, a nondenominational church located in Antioch, Tn. We meet on Sunday evenings for corporate worship and in a small group Bible Study on Tuesday evenings.
We use the acronym T.I.M.E.L.E.S.S. to describe our approach to worship and ministry.
T Theologically Driven: We believe the Bible should be taught expositionally, in a Christ centered, Gospel centered fashion. We shall endeavor to declare the whole counsel of God, and to teach the disciples that God the Father places under our care the principles, precepts, and laws found therein.
I Integrated: We shall endeavor to avoid the fragmentation of the body into programs and groups based on demographics. We will encourage families to worship together and will endeavor to keep the Church as one whole covenant community. While we will resist fragmentation, however, we do see the benefit of occasional specialized teaching for specific seasons of life.
M Membership: We believe that the Church is the most important society of established upon the Earth. In order for the local church to know who is placing themselves under her oversight and as a way of fully declaring the responsibilities and privileges Christians have to the local church, we form a sacred bond using a Covenant that is renewed each time we take the Lord’s Supper together and at regular membership meetings.
E Evangelistic: We are committed to sharing the Gospel, making disciples and planting churches. Our goal is not to see how many people we can gather into our worship community, but rather to see how many people we can evangelize, disciple, and then send out to establish new churches.
L Local: While we will receive members that live some distance away from our church, we want to encourage people to live in close proximity to the local Church. Covenant Membership is difficult to carry out at a distance. Future Church Plants should be based, to a large part, on where our disciples live.
E Elder Shepherded: We believe the body of Christ should be led and shepherded by qualified men who are given to the study of the Word, Prayer, and the oversight of the Body. This is reflected in our Doctrinal Statement and Constitution, which are our guides, subordinate to the Bible, for Faith & practice.
S Small: In order to carry out our other commitments, we believe covenant communities should remain relatively small in size. We leave the decision of how small a covenant community should be to the elders of each local church, but a suggested size would be no larger than 250 members.
S Sacred: God is Holy, and we want to treat Him as such when we gather to worship Him. Therefore we will give ourselves to the Apostles doctrine, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, and prayer when we are together. We will seek to take a balanced approach, seeing them all as important elements of worship. For more info email contact Jeremy Mack firstname.lastname@example.org or call 615.995.6906
