Introduction
New Hope Christian Church in Monsey, NY (informally called the Monsey Church) is a historic congregation in Rockland County, in downstate New York, about 23 miles from New York City.
Established in 1824 in the secession of churches from the Dutch Reformed Church to form part of Classis Hackensack in the True Reformed Dutch Church (TRDC). The TRDC eventually merged to become the Christian Reformed Church. In about 2005, we left the CRC, and then in 2007 we joined the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
If you search for the Monsey Church at Wikipedia (or see our Links page on this site), you will find a substantial article on our history and the history of Classis Hackensack of the True Reformed Dutch Church.
We are a praying and preaching church. We know that only the Holy Spirit can transform a person from the inside out. And we believe that the preaching of the word of God is the means he most often uses. We pray for that and want to pray even more earnestly, that the word would take hold of people's hearts and minds and change their lives. And we want to be an example of how God changes lives by the way we live and relate to others.
