Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us -- that WE should be called sons of God. John is amazed that he is a child of God. Christians should be amazed that they are counted children of God. Unfortunately, we have been told over and over again in our generation how much God loves everyone. The doctrine of depravity has not been taught. Consequently, when we hear that God loves us and that we are His children, we tend to yawn instead of be amazed.
