There are two ways that God goes about trying to point something out to us. When God wants to draw our attention to something He will double the saying, such as 'verily, verily'. Out of the four times the juniper tree is mentioned in the Bible 2 of those times are right here. Or when He will give a name or title such as when Jesus would say 'a certain man' or even when he told the story of the 'rich man and Lazarus'. We don't know what type of bush Moses stood before that was on fire but we do know Elijah ran to a juniper tree. The defeated spirit, the disappointed life, and depressed spirit all bring their doubts to this tree; just as we should bring them to the cross. But the similarities don't end there. Everything about this tree speaks of Jesus. From the wood under the bark being red like the blood shed on the cross to the roots being the point of the greatest benefit to all just as Jesus, the root of Jesse, is the greatest benefit to all we need to come and get all that he has there for us. This juniper is not just any old tree, the oak is one of those (just ask the prophet in 1 kings 13 about that) this tree is where our supply can be found; and most of all where God can start to put the pieces back together again. Elijah wasn't fixed under this tree just brought to a point where God could start to work on him. Why? Because he came to the cross (juniper) and laid all his problems (himself) down there right at the feet of Jesus.
