“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only” (Matthew 24:36). Jesus’ response to his disciples’ inquiry as to when the final Day would be, should have settled the matter, for them, and for subsequent generations of disciples. But each age, our own included, has had its share of end-times predictors. Such speculation is not benign. End of the world claims that go unfulfilled cause confusion for many Christians. Even worse, mistimed warnings serve to inure the non-Christian to the realty of the Day.
