At the age of 127 - three years before her son Isaac is married - Abraham's beloved wife Sarah dies. Abraham is faced with a dillema: as a stranger in the land, where is he going to find a place to bury his wife? He wants a permanant place, not just an unmarked grave. And so most of Genesis 23 is taken up with how Abraham secures a burial place. Why so much biblical real estate taken up to describe a simple real estate transaction? We'll find out as we open up the Word at Genesis 23.
