Only when viewed through dispensational lenses can the pre-trib rapture be found in the New Testament. When taken at their normal, literal meaning the scriptures teach only one Second Coming of Jesus Christ. This is the eschatology of the apostles and of the early churches. Baptists throughout the centuries, including Spurgeon have been what is known now as Historic Premillennialists; believing in a post-tribulation rapture at the Second Coming of Christ.
