In this sermon we answered three questions: What is it to be born again? Why is is vitally important to be born again? By what power can a man be born again?
To be a "born again Christian" is a popular and often dismissive label, but in truth there is no true believer who is not born again. It is not a mere remaking or remodelling, but a momentous change, an entering into participation in the resurrection life of Jesus Christ. It is a blood-purchased, God-wrought privilege, and without a new heart there is no new life.
(The Promise [by Alec Taylor, published by the Banner of Truth] is a book guiding readers through thirty-one daily Scripture readings introducing them to the gospel. We used the texts Pastor Taylor selected to provide the framework for a brief series of sermons tracing something of the person and work of Christ from Genesis to Revelation. The last twelve sermons of this series (the bulk of the messages on the New Testament) were digitally recorded, and are available here on SermonAudio. This is number 22 in the series.)
