Some people shy away from making New Year's Resolutions. One of the big reasons seems to be that they have tried in the past, only to be disappointed in their failure to keep them. After talking about the reality of life here on earth (2 Corinthians 4:16-5:5), the Apostle Paul looks longingly toward heaven (5:6-8). He then shares with us his resolution or "aim" (5:9). The reason for this "aim" (resolution; goal; intent; purpose) of Paul's is found in 5:10. Whatever one's attitude toward "New Year's Resolutions", we ought to seriously consider what the Apostle Paul writes in these verses, and seek to have the same "aim" he did.
