In the year 697 BC, at 12 years old, Manasseh became a coregent to the throne of the kingdom of Judah with his father Hezekiah. But 11 years later, when king Hezekiah died, Manasseh became the sole autocratic ruler of the kingdom of Judah. This was the time shortly after the Northern kingdom of Israel was completely destroyed by the Assyrian empire. All of Judah could see why God had wiped out the Northern kingdom of Israel. They had turned to idolatry for more than 200 years. Therefore God sent the Assyrians and they destroyed Israel. That was a great warning to the nation of Judah. But did they heed the warning? Hezekiah was a good king, but Manasseh was a very wicked king.
