In spite of the great grief , sorrow and sadness which Nehemiah experienced over the broken down wall of the city of Jerusalem, and in spite of the great discouragement, vulnerability and fear which we can also experience considering the broken down walls within our own hearts, our own homes, our own congregations and in our nation, we praise and thank God for the fact that in Nehemiah Chapter One God greatly and graciously gives us good reason for confidence, hope and courage! For here in the words of our text we find ourselves being both instructed and inspired by what we, too, should do when like Nehemiah nearly 2500 years ago we find ourselves Burdened For the Broken Wall!
