It is argued that the military turns boys into men. They take timid and mentally/physically weak men and turn them into warriors/soldiers in service to their country. Men of God, we are in the “military” school of Jesus Christ, God turns spiritually and moral weaklings into spiritually mature and fearless men of God. In our passage, the Apostle Paul is like a General serving under the Commander-in-Chief, the Lord Jesus Christ. And as a servant of the Lord, his mission and passion was to “train” spiritually immature men and, by God’s grace, see them become spiritually mature men of God. At verses 13-14, there are five verbs and all five verbs are commands or imperatives. Paul gives the men of Corinth (and to us) five commands.
