Psalm 23 is a favorite Psalm of many Christians. The reason might be that it is packed with many truths including being personal, all-sufficient, and comforting. David call the Lord my Shepherd, indicating a personal relationship where he follows the Lord like a sheep follows the Shepherd. David says he wants nothing more with God as his Shepherd. In other words, God is everything to him. And the Shepherd provides comfort even when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death. He doesn't say the valley of death, but of the shadow of death. A shadow can't hurt you, and neither can death when we belong to the Shepherd.
