“ Great Sermon! ” "When the wicked are cut off, you will see it." That is a promise of comfort. WCF 33:3 states that the certainty of eternal justice is to be, among other things, a "consolation for the godly in the time of their adversity". The Lord comforted Asaph in Ps 73 with the assurance that the wicked will surely be judged and taken away. When the fire fell at Mt Carmel, Elijah had compassion on the unbelieving masses but on the prophets of Baal he said: Let none escape and slay them all.
