Pastor Chronister starts off with a more specific explanation of how you reconcile God's omniscience with man's free will. The two seem to collide. How can God let man have free will and still know everything that's going to happen as though it has happened? You see, God is outside of time and sees all time simultaneously. If God gave man free will (which He did, and He protects that free will) and man also has a sin nature which causes him to do and think nothing but evil (as some have concluded), then how is it that man can decide with his free will to believe in God. Well... think about this. Adam, after the fall, chose to not eat from the tree of life, which, for him at that time, would be the tree of live forever in sin, and therefore be forever in an unredeemable state. And he used his free will to choose not to eat of it for a long time, probably as long as a year. Well, that's just one of the examples our pastor gives. And of course, we're talking about hyper Calvinism here. And we try to tread softly but thoughtfully when it comes to this sensitive topic because God's Word requires us too. According to God's Word, it's not something that's completely figureoutable (that's a new word because I just made it up), but we should try to get wisdom and understanding as much as humanly possible. So our dear pastor takes some time here to help us to at least "see dimly". Who can know the mind of God?
