The Lord Jesus Christ makes it very clear in His so-called High Priestly Prayer, who it is that He is praying for. It is His people, those who were given to Him out of the world, those throughout the ages, who were predestined in God's eternal plan, and called by grace, according to His purpose.
The fundamental separation of Christ's people and those of the world is seen when He says - "I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me."
The world is responsible for its rejection of Christ, and for its hardness and unbelief in the things of God.
Christ prays and cares for His people, His sheep. As the Good Shepherd he leads and guides those who belong to Him. His care is towards the church, for all who have believed, and who will yet believe.
His care is constant and ongoing, and is not going to be undone. He is our intercessor, and we will be kept, such that we will not lose our hold on Christ. He having defeated sin, and being too strong for the Devil.
Dear friend, believe upon Him. Know that He is able to save to the uttermost all those who will come to Him, and thus be the beneficiaries of His care.
