Romans 13:1-7 is all about submitting to authorities. The Apostle Paul wrote this instruction to the believers in Rome who were wonderfully guilty of EVANGELISTIC SEDITION and thus suffering persecution under a government that was opposed to Jesus Christ and His Gospel. This message challenges believers today to boldly live for Christ and the Gospel in such an EVANGELISTICALLY SEDITIOUS way that world governments, world religions, and religious institutions that oppose the Gospel of Jesus Christ will feel threatened by the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, BUT IN NO WAY FEEL THREATENED by unloving, unlawful, riotous, violent, subversive, non-tax-paying, truly seditious behavior. Simply put, Christians are called to submit to government authorities in every place except where the Lord's commands (evangelism, life of unborn, etc.) contradict with man's legislation. When the government FORBIDS EVANGELISM or MANDATES ABORTION, we must graciously choose to obey God rather than men. |
