Introduction: "Religion" of Bible is based on faith
Text: Heb 11:13-16
I – ENDURANCE OF FAITH THROUGH TRIALS - All mentioned in chapter 11 already died without receiving Promise. - "Faith" doesn't inoculate one against suffering, it helps one to endure it. - Don't settle for earthly rewards, look to Heaven, be an alien on earth.
II – THE AIM OF FAITH - Abraham had one possession in Promised Land - a cave to bury Sarah - Be of heavenly faith, not earthly faith
III - THE REWARD OF FAITH - God identifies with His people - calls them co-workers - Christ calls believers his brothers (Hebrews 2:11) - Manifestation of this identification: glorious eternal city
Conclusion: Faith is TOUGH and RESILIENT, it grips distant promises as real and convicting. Serve not with eye on man, but with goal of God's rewards
