We live in an age of fulfillment, but not all has been fulfilled. In the here and now, we experience the coming of the future Kingdom by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the deposit of our inheritance and the first fruit of what the whole world will one day know when the Lord Jesus Christ returns.
How do we respond to things such as the US Supreme Court's ruling regarding same-sex marriage? Do we put up a big sign out front denouncing it? Do we charter buses and go demonstrate?
The answer of the New Testament is that we must reach out to people trapped in sin and share the good news with them, the same good news that we have experienced. There is no political solution to this. But the Lord Jesus Christ still saves sinners, he still changes hearts, and he still washes away sin.
We can say to people trapped in the LGBT way of life that we have the same problem they have: sin. And we have found the solution that they need: not a different way of thinking or turning over a new leaf or reprograming our orientation, but coming to a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ.
