The title of the message this morning is Meeting with God. In Exodus 19, God calls the Israelites to meet with Him at Mount Sinai in order to establish a covenant with them. At any rate, what is clear is that 3 times God warns the people not to break through, lest they die. This emphasizes the holiness of God. Israel was learning that it is a serious and dangerous thing to approach a holy God. They were learning that meeting with God was not something to be taken lightly.
Are you prepared to meet God? In order to meet with God, we need what Israel needed: a mediator. A mediator is a go-between, someone who bridges the gap between two parties who are far apart. Our sin leaves us separated from God and in danger of His punishment.
But God in His grace has provided a mediator – a better mediator then even Moses. His name is Jesus Christ! 1 Timothy 2:5 says 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man[a] Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all
