He needed some kind of approval from his father, even though he had broken his father's heart. We are the same way with our heavenly father. He see's us all the while that we are a great way off. God understands what has happened to us, and still he loves us. We might be afraid to come to our father and ask for forgiveness. But no matter how bad it is we can come to Him and He will extend His peace to us, His children.
