It is not enough to be convicted that we have sinned against God or even shameful or sorrowful that we have offended the Holy One of Isreal who has redeemed us from all iniquity and sins tyrannical bondage. The saint must strive to mortify all that offends the Holiness of the Lord. Simply put, sorry is not enough.
The new birth enables the saint to stand against sin and by the Spirit's Grace and Power mortify it in all its motions and movements. Though never mortifying sin perfectly or compre- hensively the saint is to be effective in casting down its power and effectiveness in the Name of Christ and for the Glory of His Majesty.
This lecture is part 2 in a series on Paul's text concerning the mortification of indwelling sin in the believer.
