We have seen that Heaven is God's proper abode. God will indeed dwell among men. The glorified saints in Heaven will see Him as He is. They will be like Him, and they will enjoy unbroken fellowship with Him.
The “centerpiece,” the focal point, of Heaven will be the “throne of God and of the Lamb” (Rev. 22:1,2). The Book of Revelation mentions the word “heaven” 55 times and the “throne of God” 39 times. If we would “set our affections on things above,” we need to acquaint ourselves with this central attraction of Heaven. Our homage even now should be directed to the Lamb Who sits on His throne, and to Whom “all power has been given…in heaven and in earth.” Heaven is referred to as God's “throne,” and earth is his “footstool” (Acts 7:49).
When it comes to describing Heaven, human vocabulary is inadequate (1 Cor. 2:9; 2 Cor. 12:4). Only in the eternity of Heaven will we be able to adequately and worthily express the worship and praise due to the Lamb upon His throne. Until then, let us envy the angels and get “practiced up.”
