In this study we are to consider 3 main points concerning the day appointed for Christian worship. 1. The permanency of, and our obligation to observe the Sabbath Day. a. the Sabbath was a pre-fall creation ordinance. b. the Sabbath was a patriarchal standing ordinance. c. the Sabbath was not abolished by the New Testament. d.the Sabbath day was properly transferred to the first day of the week. (OT: The Sabbath was a perpetual reminder of creation. NT: The Sabbath is a reminder of redemption and resurrection.) 2. The precepts which govern our observance of the Sabbath Day. a. it ought to be a day of rest. The rest is of a holy nature. b. we should keep this day for worship - collectively and personally c. it is a day for works of necessity, mercy and piety, not for profit, monetary gain or commerce. 3. The privileges of keeping the Sabbath Day. a. it is good for man physically. b. it is good for man mentally. c. it is good for the nation spiritually.
