In order to become a Christian, then, and grow up to be a strong and useful Christian in the Lord’s sight, you must ask yourself whether you have the answers to the 3 questions which come flowing out to us from this text. 1st – Do I believe that the description of the sick people who lay by the pool, is also a good description of my unsaved spiritual state before conversion to Christ? 2nd – Do I have a desire to be made well? And 3rd – Do I realize my duty to God and to Christ after I have been made well? For those who are taking notes, I have alliterated it for you so that you might remember it better – Description, Desire, and Duty. That is what we are going to think about together for the next few minutes.
