SERMON INFO
A few years ago my friend and mentor John MacArthur preached at our church on Wednesday night. This was his message:

There's a cure for the SIN virus! We are given the responsibility to disseminate the cure. That's the only reason we're here.

If we were saved purely for fellowship--we might as well go to heaven now, because the fellowship here on earth is imperfect.

If we were saved to have triumph over sin—then we might as well go to heaven because the triumph here is severely checkered and we all live somewhere in Romans 7—wanting to do what we don't do, and not wanting to do what we find ourselves doing.

God left you here to share the Gospel with the people around you. Most people have some idea of what the Gospel is, but they don't have a good enough grasp to share the good news.

There's one thing we can do here that we can't do in heaven, and that is the ministry of reconciliation. That term defines the heart and soul of our responsibility as believers in the world.

God will forgive ALL your sins FOREVER—are you interested?

This is what we live for, preach for, this is what we die for—that people will be reconciled to God.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Great Sermon but Jesus did not die on Friday(Day 6) and stood up out of the Grave on Sunday (Day 1) He dies on Wednesday (day 4) was in the Grave Thursday(day 5) Friday(day 6) and Saturday (The Sabbath day 7) and rose in the evening/night of Saturday which is the start of Day 1 according to Gods Creation. That means HE was in the Grave for three days and nights Like He Himself said He would be.Mat 12:40  For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. This is why I am called an Israelite according to the New Covenant.Romans 11:11-24

“ Great Sermon with important information! ”
Some Observations¶ See http://tinyurl.com/hv6zxwj Well, I could compliment the sermon, but there are already plenty of messages to do that! Oh, and the sermon is worth every compliment given–but so is the transcript which I gave the URL for, It's quite accurate that they should be used together. Just read from verse 18-21..... The transcript for the sermon starts after the section heading "A Question from a Moslem" There are extremely few errors in the transcript. Sometimes an interjection by John isn't included, and when a Bible verse is given with ellipses "...." following it, you are going to have to have your Bible to follow it, for example, "just read from verse 18-21....." ¶There are very few errors in the transcript or from John, On page 15 he use the term "fortresses," which isn't in my Bible and more importantly these "strongholds" are found in 2 Corinthians not 1 Corinthians. The NASB does have "fortresses" ¶Just really minor problems with the transcript and those problems are very few. As such it's great to read the transcript along while listening to the sermon. You could get a lot more out of the sermon that way. Note: ¶ 2 Cor. 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.—ESV

“ And that is the Gospel! ”
Praise God for this message, Christ came and died for our transgressions though He himself was pure and holy, He became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. May God continue to use Ptr. John Macarthur in spreading His Word, the true gospel amidst the prosperity gospel preachers and other counterfeits all around us! God keep you Ptr. John and God bless Calvary Bible Church!

“ Great Sermon! ”
We don't need to go to a conference for hours or even give a talk for even an hour to say what the gospel is. Paul in 1 Corinthians 15 says specfically what the gospel is, "that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." In Acts 16 the jailer asked Paul and Silas, "what must I do to be saved?” The answer, “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” How do we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? By believing the gospel. This is how we believe the gospel, from Romans 10:9, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Corinthians 15:1-4 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures

well, one thing is that if the man is from Iran, chances are he is not Arabic, as the speaker says, but instead is Persian. Everybody in the non Jewish middleeast areas is an Arab

Amen...Thank you for this wonderful message! When he said..(Salvation is for) "all who will believe" is correct because of the Free Offer of the Gospel to all the world. (We do not know who are the Elect until they come to Christ for Salvation..John 1:12-13..The Lord knoweth them that are His.

“ A Primer for Understanding the Gospel! ”
Outstanding sermon on not only the Salvation message, but the tenets of our Faith in general. The only thing I did not necessarily agree (maybe semantically) with is when he said "all who will believe" regarding Christ's atonement or imputation of sins... isn't it "all who Christ came to save (elect)? Saying it the way he said it, makes it appear that we have something to do with our salvation...we can "decide" when we "want" to become saved...and I don't necessarily see that in the Bible. Just my view. I REALLY enjoy hearing John MacArthur preach!

“ Clear. ”
Excellent presentation of the Gospel. A refutation of self-salvation systems and of all kind of syncretic systems which change the pure Gospel of salvation. Absolutely needed in these days of ignorance about what the Gospel is.

“ Great Sermon! ”
One of a kind, I first heard this sermon in 2004, within six months of rebirth, loved it. Would suggest all christians hear this sermon, no matter where you are in your walk. Sometimes the deeper you get into your studies you take your eyes off Jesus and kinda forget the Gospel. All on SA comment section should hear this. Pastor John starts by making you at ease then you hear his tone change, and he tells it like it is. Also Pastor Johns other sermon on SA Heaven! The Narrow Gate or The Broad Gate. Which path are you on? Pastor John MacArthur • Evangelism • 59 min. Matthew 7:13,14 • For God's Glory Mission Anyway to get more sermons on SA

Thank you very much for explaining the passage in 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 in such a clear and concise manner. I also appreciated your sense of humor!

“ Beautiful in it's simplicity ”
I have never heard a gospel message preached quite like this one. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. It is in Christ alone through faith alone, which is also not of us. It is a gift of God. I am so blessed, to hear this. All of mans ways does not lead to salvation. They are burdensome, and send us straight to hell. Truly amazing love. I will listen to this many times.

Larry Pan 陈鸽 (5/10/2007)
“ Excellent Sermon! ”
It's so easy to follow along with the "evagelical" crowds and "ecumenical" leaders into a compromised "faith". MacArthur's message is a clarion call for us to wake up.

“ Exactly The Gospel ”
Particularly at the end, this sermon clarifies the difference between the Word of Faith and true gospel messages. I encourage anyone who is caught up in the Hagin-Copeland-Hinn-etc world to listen to this message and understand where the Word of Faith movement has gone wrong in their interpretation of the Bible. And learn the true gospel which saves!
