A few years ago my friend and mentor John MacArthur preached at our church on Wednesday night. This was his message:
There's a cure for the SIN virus! We are given the responsibility to disseminate the cure. That's the only reason we're here.
If we were saved purely for fellowship--we might as well go to heaven now, because the fellowship here on earth is imperfect.
If we were saved to have triumph over sin—then we might as well go to heaven because the triumph here is severely checkered and we all live somewhere in Romans 7—wanting to do what we don't do, and not wanting to do what we find ourselves doing.
God left you here to share the Gospel with the people around you. Most people have some idea of what the Gospel is, but they don't have a good enough grasp to share the good news.
There's one thing we can do here that we can't do in heaven, and that is the ministry of reconciliation. That term defines the heart and soul of our responsibility as believers in the world.
God will forgive ALL your sins FOREVER—are you interested?
This is what we live for, preach for, this is what we die for—that people will be reconciled to God.
A Primer for Understanding the Gospel! Outstanding sermon on not only the Salvation message, but the tenets of our Faith in general. The only thing I did not necessarily agree (maybe semantically) with is when he said "all who will believe" regarding
Christ's atonement or imputation of sins... isn't it "all who Christ came to save (elect)? Saying it the way he said it, makes it appear that we have something to do with our salvation...we can "decide" when we "want" to become saved...and I don't necessarily see that in the Bible. Just my view. I REALLY enjoy hearing John MacArthur preach!

Clear. Excellent presentation of the Gospel. A refutation of self-salvation systems and of all kind of syncretic systems which change the pure Gospel of salvation. Absolutely needed in these days of ignorance about what the Gospel is.

Great Sermon! One of a kind, I first heard this sermon in 2004, within six months of rebirth, loved it.
Would suggest all christians hear this sermon, no matter where you are in your walk. Sometimes the deeper you get into your studies you take your eyes off Jesus and kinda forget the Gospel.
All on SA comment section should hear this.

Great Sermon! Thank you very much for explaining the passage in 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 in such a clear and concise manner. I also appreciated your sense of humor!

Beautiful in it's simplicity I have never heard a gospel message preached quite like this one. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. It is in Christ alone through faith alone, which is also not of us. It is a gift of God. I am so blessed, to hear this. All of mans ways does not lead to salvation. They are burdensome, and send us straight to hell. Truly amazing love. I will listen to this many times.

Excellent Sermon! It's so easy to follow along with the "evagelical" crowds and "ecumenical" leaders into a compromised "faith". MacArthur's message is a clarion call for us to wake up.

Exactly The Gospel Particularly at the end, this sermon clarifies the difference between the Word of Faith and true gospel messages. I encourage anyone who is caught up in the Hagin-Copeland-Hinn-etc world to listen to this message and understand where the Word of Faith movement has gone wrong in their interpretation of the Bible. And learn the true gospel which saves!
