In this first installment of a series within a series, we want to address the issue of Christ's blood securing a new covenant that assures us of an eternal redemption.
The Jews, even though they had very specific OT prophetic information about the coming of the Christ, rejected Jesus, who proved the object of these prophecies exclusively. Why? They wanted a king, God gave them a priest. They could not see the Christ as a priest.
In order to accomplish redemption and provide for "the good things to come," Jesus had to offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice.
Now Jesus is able to proved (1) a purified conscience (v. 14); (2) an eternal inheritance (v. 15); and unrestricted access to God (v. 24) via the putting away of sin (vv. 26, 28).
