(Continuation of Letters to the Church) -Sardis (Dead)-AD1520-AD1750, about a 200-year timeframe. -Sardis means ‘one who escapes; escaping one' -The number 7 means complete. He observes, sees and knows everything that is going on in His universe. Satan does not have that capability – he can only be one place at one time. -Rev 3:1-2: Sardis was a very busy church, lots of activities and charities, but Christ said they were dead. But they have a few good things that are worthy unto Christ, and He warns them to tend to these few things before they die, too. -Historically, this church represents the Reformation, when the people started questioning the popes and Catholic churches. Martin Luther questioned them and nailed a sheet to the church door, a report stating waht the Bible says about being saved and how to get heaven. This is when Martin Luther and others separated from the Catholic church and started the Lutheran church. But instead of teaching the truth by the bible, they started rituals and rites in an effort to please the political heads of Germany. They have continued to fragment through time to this day, teaching something different, and not paying taxes. We have over 700 groups teaching this and that, and please who they want. These Reformers started out right by reading the Bible and believing it, but then they veered away again. -Rev 3:5: "I will not blot out his name out of the book of life." Does this mean we can be Un-Saved once we are saved?
