Why did God become man? For man's salvation and to manifest his glory through the person and work of His Son. In Jesus we see the human face of God: the divine Son assumed human nature-he was fully God and fully man at the same time in one person. John 1:14 is the key to understanding the Incarnation: "The Word became flesh..." The Word had to assume humanity in order to redeem humanity. God bought the church with his blood; i.e., with the blood of Jesus the human. Only God in Christ can save sinners; therefore, our relationship with God is totally connected to faith in and love for Jesus Christ.
