SERMON INFO
When Jesus had His disciples borrow a colt for His use at the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, He told them to tell it's owner that the Lord had need of the animal.

Think of it: that God deigns to use what we have and what we do to work out His sovereign will and purposes. He does not depend upon us in a needy way, but He ordains us to His use. In that way, the Lord has need of His people to do His will.

As we enter a new year, we ought to purpose to do what our Lord has need of, in service and obedience to Him.

God's will is that the Savior will lead us in paths of righteousness. Christ's sacrifice and God's grace are not excuses for us to continue in sin. Rather, by Jesus' obedience and blood, we are declared righteous and the law is discharged and satisfied. Therefore, neither the law or sin has dominion over us, but we are free to obey Jesus in all things.

What we do in obedience is not our good or our work, but God's mighty power working in us to will and do His good pleasure! This ought to astound us and even cause us to fear!

We have been made priests to sacrifice holy praise, worship, charity, and good works unto Christ and the brethren.

Paul urges Christians to do all their work as if done directly for Jesus. If what we are doing is honorable and needful and profitable and decent, then we ought to do our very best, as if Jesus were receiving it and inspecting it and using it and appreciating it.

Nothing is so humble or routine that it cannot be done unto Christ. The women washed His clothes and cooked for Him. The colt's owner fed the animal and prepared Him for the Savior!

But let us delight in His sacrifice above all other things!
