Ignorance and confusion regarding the right understanding and use of spiritual gifts was causing problems in the Corinthian church. Paul therefore writes to attempt to set them right regarding the use of these gifts and to deal with errors regarding why the gifts were given and how they are distributed. Regrettably, despite Paul's excellent instructions, we still see these same errors being repeated in the church today.
