Tonight's message continues the series on “The Fear of the Lord.” In the previous sessions we examined how the Bible defines Godly fear, good reasons for Godly fear, how Jesus viewed Godly fear, Godly fear and wisdom, how the fear of God is created, the fear of God and forgiveness, and the fear of God and the ultimate questions. The message this evening examines the Fear of God & the Godly Man Males grow to manhood with a great variety of criteria regarding what constitutes real manliness. By adulthood, the experiences of fiction, TV, movies, sports and companions influences further the range of qualities thought to define “real manliness.” For the Christian man, knowledge of what in God's eyes constitutes the Godly man is a pressing matter which he must keep before his eyes as he matures in sanctification. The Bible makes numerous reference to certain historical men said to be “Godly.” The basis of those claims must be planted in the heart of Christian men if they are to experience fulfillment as “Godly Men.” We will be examining many of those qualities tonight. In a companion message we will examine the “Fear of God and the Godly Woman,” understanding that both the Man and the Woman relate to God in their Godliness, but both relate to each other not as being identical but as complementary creations.
