Scripture reveals the Lord Jesus to be both the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and the Lamb of God slain for the saving of His loved ones.
In Revelation 5, Christ is seen as the Lion and the Lamb taking His power and rule over the whole world. He executes God's will and judgment by the opening of the seals of the book He received from His Father.
The Lion is a symbol of authority, majesty, and power. He is known as the king of the jungle. Jacob foretold of the Lion of Judah, which would culminate in the coming of Messiah, Who would rule all the people. When Jesus takes the book, He fulfills that promise of a final Ruler from Judah.
Scripture is filled of pictures of Christ ruling as the Lion. He breaks His enemies with a rod of iron. He will stamp out the wrath of God upon them. They will cry in terror at His judgments.
Solomon is often seen as a precursor of Christ. He was the promised son, but failed to fulfill all the promises given to David. His reign had many of Christ's characteristics, yet failed in the end. He had a great throne surrounded by Lion images, as if to lay hold on Jacob's promise.
Solomon fell into the error Samuel warned against: the cost of his rule was a heavy burden and hard yoke upon his people.
But Isaiah foretold that Messiah's rest would be glorious! Christ Himself promised an easy yoke and a light burden for His people who came to Him and trusted in Him!
Jesus is the king that Israel should have waited for, and should have trusted in! For He is meek and lowly of heart, not proud and arrogant and overbearing to His people!
Christ has taken our heavy burden of sin and guilt, and carried it away in His own body at Calvary!
