We study tonight the book of James 4. James speaks to Jews who have been born again. He speaks about wars and fighting's within us. He identifies lust as one reason. James then discusses the way we ask. We ask amiss. James uses strong language for those who desire to use their request to consume it upon their lusts. We need to learn to ask appropriately. He calls them adulterers and adulteresses. This is because of our lack of commitment to Christ. James discusses friendship with the world. He informs them, it is enmity with God. James also discusses the spirit of man which lusts to envy. Again, the basis of what James is discussing is the practicalities of our faith.
