As Christians we don’t like the word complacency. It’s our enemy. It sneaks up on believers. Suddenly we wonder what happened to the passion and the love we once had for God. The world begins to look enticing. Complacency is not a problem when we first get saved. Everything is focused on God. As we grow in the Lord it should become more so... but often, it doesn’t. Why not? Let’s look at........ Rev 2:2-5 (to the church at Ephesus) “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; "and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary. (sounds like the perfect church so far, doing all the “stuff” we’re supposed to do. Doing the stuff apart from a relationship with God is empty as well. ) "Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place-- unless you repent. (NKJ)
