The spiritual/mental act of remembering great redemptive acts of God is a part of properly worshipping him. The OT people were exhorted to remember the Exodus, and we are to remember the supreme redemptive act of God in sending Jesus Christ. Two key things we are to remember are his resurrection and his human descent from King David. These were essential pillars in the gospel which Paul received directly by revelation from Jesus Christ. God has ordained that the church remember the death and resurrection of his Son whenever we partake of the Lord's Supper. The service of this great gospel resulted in suffering and imprisonment for Paul but this did not stop the preaching of the gospel. Paul gladly suffered for the sake of the elect people of Gd that they too might come to know this great salvation. Paul exhorts us to die with Christ, to endure hardship, and to remain faithful to our faithful God who cannot deny his own unfailing dependability.
