A dictionary definition of paradox is, "A seemingly contradictory statement that may nonetheless be true; a person, situation, or action exhibiting inexplicable or contradictory aspects…" During His earthly ministry, the Savior occasionally used paradox (or seeming paradox) to express deep spiritual truth. When He said, "That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven" His disciples immediately thought they perceived a paradox and said, "Who then can be saved?" The Savior expressed what was thought to be a paradox in order to teach them the truth that, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." It is also a (seeming) paradox to speak of stones which are alive. But, to quote the Savior, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." This seeming paradox of living stones reveals a glorious spiritual truth.
