Poem: “Peace on Earth” (Part 3) by Librae Jackson, Deacon

Peace on earth is a concept so foreign to men,
because of this world of sin we were born in.
The natural man is forlorn when
it comes to a love of truth, peace and harmonious things;
knowing how to inflict harm only, it seems.

The man Cain killed his brother.
This first murder explains every other,
in the sense that what preceded it
was their father, Adam's, disobedience
in the Garden of Eden, where he and Eve did
eat of the tree that God distinctly had forbidden.

Due to this rebellion, as humans, we dwell in
a cursed world and cursed bodies,
which is why we die, and we live ungodly.

Because of sin, there is much dysfunction rampant in the world.
All of the evil that happens in the world: all tribulation
can be attributed to fallen human nature.
Until a man is made into a new creation,
he cannot know God, or know how to love his neighbor.
Man is born into this world a hater;
totally depraved and wayward.

By what happened in Eden, we fell drastically into depravity.
Thus, catastrophe occurs as naturally as water falls from a waterfall.
It's all because of our fall in Adam.

Individually and collectively,
we disobeyed the Lord, and forfeited peace.

The decline of peace on earth
is what mankind's disobedience is worth.
The decree that we heard
is that God is who we need to serve,
but evil's preferred.

We observe many lying vanities, and forsake our own mercy.
This came about from the curse, see?
About peace, we don't know the first thing.

We're even corrupt in discerning things like judgment,
and how we determine who deserves punishment.
Even the best deed we've ever done has sin under it.
Who can stand if God puts us under the gun for it?
But now, let's examine another Covenant.

God's broken Law requires death,
but peace between sinners and God, is by Christ's death.
So God is merciful and yet righteous.
Thus, the Bible says: "Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace, good will toward men."

This sang a host of angels in a great multitude.
And today, it contains hope for you.
I pray The Lord would show you His absolute truth, to attach your soul to.

For any sinner to have peace,
there had to be a way for our sins to be dealt with adequately.
Christ handled this with ease;
not that it was easy, but that as the God Man, He
was qualified to offer His life, on behalf of the
elect of God, whom He'd present unto God, after He
was punished for all our sinful deeds;
He, the innocent, for the guilty.
But He took upon Himself our guilt, willingly.

So unless we know God as thus gracious,
peace on earth shall always escape us.

We wouldn't know where to begin with peace,
until we see Him, who is the Prince of Peace.
He, who can command the winds to cease,
and silence the violence of the stormy seas.

His control over the waves, which obey,
is the same as with the souls He saves.

When He says "Peace, be still,"
who can help but to yield to His will?

In a world full of trouble, grief and unbelief,
it's wonderful to see that God, by His Son, speaks peace.
