“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 16:25

There is an obvious question that jumps out of this verse. How in the world does this happen? How does such a tragic misjudgment occur? How does a marriage end in divorce? How is an addiction formed which leads to death? What leads a person to gamble away their entire possessions? To answer this question, we must remember that this verse is a part of a larger discussion about the centrality of the heart to all the issues of life, including our judgments. The heart is a term used to describe the root of affection, of what we most treasure. What we treasure drives what we think, which in turn drives our words, decisions, and actions. Our thoughts become clouded with misjudgment when our treasure becomes anything besides God and His glory. Therefore, the real, daily need is to maintain the health of our heart.
