Forty years ago I was utterly convinced that the rapture would occur before I finished High School. My youth pastor attempted to calm me by saying the he was sure I would raise a family and live a full life before the Lord's return. As it turns out, he was right, my kids are now raising their own families. But still I wait, and expect that at any moment we will be caught up to be with the Lord.
In James 5:7-8 we read: Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. (James 5:7, 8 NKJV)
Many generations have waited, but even still the same word is to us; Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. We are waiting for the fruit of the kingdom, the souls of men and women foreknown by God to be His own to come to Him. When that last fruit is plucked, we'll hear the trumpet sound.
Now we wait patiently and establish ourselves in Christ, knowing that at any moment, the coming of The Lord will be here. Until He comes we count it all joy as we serve Him. To hasten the day, tell more people about Christ; maybe you will lead that last one to the Lord!
