If the church were in one accord, like minded, of one heart and one soul, what would be the result? In Acts 4:32-33 we read: Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. (NKJV)
The church was in one accord on the day of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them. That day 3000 were saved and added to the church. The believers continued daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47 NKJV)
When a dispute did arise in the church the Apostles wisely appointed men filled with the Holy Spirit, to attend to those matters, so that they could give themselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the word. The result of restored unity was multiplied increase in disciples including many of the priests coming to the Lord. In each instance the unity of the believers was followed by increase of favor and grace and salvation. The close fellowship was attractive to those outside and increased grace inside; and the church grew as a result of their unity. The fruit of unity is a healthy and growing church.
